Dunraven pass on May 28th, 2017.
Observation Point Trail is stated as a strenous hike. Its not too long only about 8miles round trip but with more than 2000ft elevation gain it is no walk in the park :). It took us about 2 hours to get to Observation Point and it was mainly steep and uphill. The views are worth every foot uphill. Once you have reached the final elevation the view into the canyon and onto Angels Landing is simply breath taking.
I have uploaded some pictures we took on the way up so you can see for yourself.
20 days to go until our vacation finally starts. I am actually counting the days.
We will fly to from Frankfurt via Amsterdam to Salt Lake City and then the fun begins. Its going to be our first camping vacation. I admit I am excited and a bit nervous. This is going to be our home for a little less than 3 weeks.
It was not easy, at least for me, to decide where to go or to at least decide for a certain regoin. There was too much choice. After initially aiming for only Yellowstone we decided against it. There is so much more to see. This is the route that we have decided to go for. Exciting!!!
We will start in SLC than head south to Zion NP via Coral Pink Sand Dunes SP to the North Rim of Grand Canyon. Then on to Lake Powell and Monument Valley and north again via Dead Horse Point SP to Dinosaur National Monument, Grand Teton NP to Yellowstone and finally back to SLC.
Any recommendations for this area? Any good hikes, good photo spots etc? I am looking forward to your tipps.
Arches National Park is only a few miles outside of Moab. It is the national park with the highest concentration of arches. They come in all kinds and forms and a visit is pretty spectacular!
Canyonlands is my personal favorite! It is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been to.
Für eine Reise in die Nationalparks des Südwesten der USA ist Las Vegas ein guter Ausgangsort. Von Deutschland kann man es gut erreichen, teilweise nonstop, teilweise mit Zwischenstopp.
