Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

Coral Pink State Park is about an hour south of Zion National Park in the way to Kanab/Grand Canyon/Lake Powell. If you leave US89 its about 11miles to the entrance of the state park.

We decided to stop there mostly because of the dunes and the campground. The dunes are really cool. Really reminded me of the dunes in the Namib desert in Namibia. Same color and equally nasty to climb 🙂

The campground is lovely too. Only 22 spots, no hook ups but fireplaces, Water, restrooms and showers. All very well kept and clean.
If you happen to be on US89 take the time for short visit. You will not regret it, as dunes like this are totally uncommon for the area.

Observation Point Trail @ Zion National Park

Observation Point Trail is stated as a strenous hike. Its not too long only about 8miles round trip but with more than 2000ft elevation gain it is no walk in the park :). It took us about 2 hours to get to Observation Point and it was mainly steep and uphill. The views are worth every foot uphill. Once you have reached the final elevation the view into the canyon and onto Angels Landing is simply breath taking.

I have uploaded some pictures we took on the way up so you can see for yourself.
