On our last day in Norway we sadly had to leave our lovely little house in Åroybukt to drive back to Tromsø.
To avoid a long drive we decided to take the ferry in Svensby. It only takes about 20min and with 120NOK the price is ok. After we arrived in Tromsø we headed to the parking lot of the Fjellheisen Cable Car. The Cable Car goes up to Storsteinen (421m). There are also a lot of hiking trails up the mountain, so we took one of them, a 3,4km trail up to the mountain station of Storsteinen. The first half of the trail is easy, the second half is a killer, from 5m to 421m in what seems like 10min. The view of Tromsø and Tromsøya as well as of the surrounding mountains is great and well worth the sweat! I am pretty sure that it is a breathtaking location to watch the northern lights or the midnight sun. To go down there are different options. Either straight down directly below the cable car or down what feels like 1000 steep stairs.
