Day 17 Lyngenalps/Lyngenfjord

After having spend a wonderful quiet and relaxing first night in our beautiful holiday home we enjoyed a lengthy breakfast and followed the recommendation of our host to hike to a nearby lake.

The hike was not to difficult and after 45 minutes we had reached the lake. The weather was beautiful but it was pretty cold. The ground and also parts of the lake were already frozen. As it was such a pretty day the lake was like a mirror, everything reflected in it.

After exploring the area around the lake we started to walk back. As we had read the previous day the area also hosts the northernmost whisky distillery of the world: Aurora Spirit Distillery. As it was very close to our holiday home we decided to give it a go and check out if they are open. They were. Luckily they currently have a German intern so we chatted a bit and got a free tour of the distillery 🙂 The first whisky will not be sold until in 2 years time as it has to ripe for 3 years.

If you are ever in the area of Lyngseidet/Aroybukt, give the distillery a try, its well worth a visit.
